Farnham Town Council has agreed to buy a new polytunnel for £10,000 to support its planting schemes across the town.

The decision was made at the council’s recent meeting after officers presented a review of options for adapting the council’s nursery off West Street to better support the growing volume of plants.

The recommended solution was to buy an additional polytunnel, which would be placed on the allotment adjacent to the nursery, land that is currently reserved for future cemetery use but is being repurposed for the polytunnel.

The estimated cost for the new structure, including internal benches and equipment, is £10,000.

The council has earmarked the funds for the purchase from the insurance money received following a fire that occurred in the nursery.
