SATURDAY night will definitely go with a bang, as venues in and around Haslemere let rip with their firework displays.

Joining in the fun, The Friends of Beacon Hill School’s are hoping for a good turnout at their annual bonfire night from 4.30pm on Saturday,November 3, at Hindhead Playing Fields on Tilford Road.

The bonfire will be topped by a Guy Fawkes created by the school’s new reception year pupils.

Advance tickets can be purchased at a reduced price from Beacon Hill Garage and Simply Fresh in Beacon Hill, Pins and Needles in Grayshott, Dylan’s Milk Barn in Wey Hill, The Cookie Bar in Hindhead, as well as Orchard Barn Café in Churt.

Volunteer Jackie Chiodaroli, said: “This event is the biggest and most popular in the Friends of Beacon Hill School’s calendar and all funds raised will be used to enhance the learning environment of the pupils.

“It is a really fun event that is primarily targeted at families with young children.

“Other than the fireworks, which are professionally choreographed to music, everything else is run and organised entirely by volunteers with thanks to many local businesses who help support this event.”

Many thousands will flock to Chiddingfold village green from 5pm on Saturday, for one of the biggest and best displays in Surrey.

A highlight is the procession of flaming torches from St Mary’s School at 7pm, to set fire to the bonfire at around 7.30pm.

The historic village church and houses around the green make a dramaticbackdrop for the firework diplay, which launches at around 8pm, followed by the grand draw.

Shuttle buses will operate from Witley Station starting 5pm. Surrey Police have advised the A283 will close from 5.30pm until 10pm with traffic diversions in place.
