EAST Hampshire District Council outlined its proposed budget for 2010/2011 during a special consultation meeting in Alton on December 17 last year, designed to provide residents from Bordon and Alton with the chance to have a say on how their money is spent.

Just one member of the public turned out on that cold evening before Christmas - an indication, perhaps, of apathy and too high an expectation on behalf of councillors at the height of the festive season and in such bad weather.
