GILBERT White’s House and The Oates Collections, in Selborne, threw open its doors last Thursday for its annual volunteer day.

The event saw volunteers and supporters of Gilbert White’s house, garden and field-studies centre come together to learn more about the facilities.

The open day is a chance for established volunteers to meet and to bring more people into the fold. There are various volunteering opportunities at the house, including working in the garden, room stewarding, helping with various events, costumed interpretation or working behind the scenes.
