A GIRL left profoundly deaf by meningitis as a toddler can now hear and speak thanks to technology and the therapy of Auditory Verbal UK.
Isabelle Cavanough, six, lives in Alton and is raising money for the charity by wearing her most colourful top in exchange for a donation during its Loud Shirt Day tomorrow (Friday).
She started with Auditory Verbal UK at 20 months.
Her mum Elsie said: “It has transformed her life. She learned how to speak and now attends our local school, along with all her hearing friends.
“As we walked along the beach this summer Isabelle said ‘I love the sound of the waves, Mummy.’ I love that through her technology she could hear them, and that through auditory verbal therapy and learning to speak she was able to tell me.”
