ALTON Convent School has two teams from year 10 in the national final of this year’s TeenTech Awards.
The girls are following in the footsteps of last year’s Alton Convent team who actually won the event.
Against tough competition from across the country, Alexandria Hall has secured a place with her innovation in the wearable technology category; a major growth sector in the economy. Alexandria is delighted to be able to combine her passion for fashion with her love of science, opening a whole new career pathway.
Isabel Robinson, Lucy Schryver and Iona Harrison are finalists for their creative engineering and business proposition in the future of food category, driven by their desire to make the world a better place.
By reaching the final, due to take place at London’s world-renowned Royal Society this month, the students have already been identified as top three national finalists for their category.
The award programme enables the students to develop their own innovation from a number of categories.
The participants operate as a micro-organisation and need to consider the end-to-end business flow, from initial concept and market potential to design, prototyping marketing and sales.
The programme provides a powerful insight into the plethora of diverse and rewarding career opportunities in the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, inspiring teachers and students alike.
