More than 2,000 people have now signed an petition calling for changes to be made at a deadly junction north of Alton.
And members of Shalden Parish Council have also vowed to keep up the pressure with the Change Golden Pot crossroads campaign reaching an impressive milestone.
The council has provided the Herald with a bullet point list of efforts made over the last five years to reduce the number of accidents at the notorious junction on the B3349.
They insist they have long worked with Hampshire County Councillors – most recently Cllr Mark Kemp-Gee – to improve the junction’s safety record from the cutting back of vegetation to calling for markings to be updated.
They have also commented on every planning application over the last two years to convert the former Golden Pot public house into housing.
The council has raised “specific concerns” on what impact development could have on traffic flow at the junction, with plans to add another dwelling to an already-approved application eliciting a further reaction.
“The subject of safety at the Golden Pot junction is a regular item on the SPC agenda and is also discussed at the Annual Parish Meeting which Cllr Kemp-Gee attends,” said Katherine Horton, clerk to Shalden Parish.
“Both SPC and Cllr Kemp-Gee will continue to raise the concerns of residents with the intent of reducing accidents at the site.”
The petition launched by Chris Eason has also drawn county-wide attention with Freeview channel, That’s TV Hampshire, recently interviewing the founder.

He said: “If you know the road you know to slow down but anyone who doesn’t know the road will do the speed limit and doesn’t know it’s too fast.
“As for signatures, more the better. Anything to get this road changed as I’d rather the road was changed than we lose somebody.”
