CHARITY, voluntary and community groups are invited to meet four grant-giving organisations at Bordon’s Forest Community Centre this month.

Entitled Funding Your Future, the event on November 19, organised by charity Community First, aims to introduce East Hampshire’s non-profit-making organisations to a range of local grant application opportunities.

The funders attending will be from Whitehill Town Council, Radian Community Grants, East Hampshire District Council (councillors’ grants), Hampshire County Council (councillors’ grants), and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation.

“It may surprise you to know that some of these funding bodies are not receiving enough applications from local charities,” said Claire Coxwell, from Community First.

“Yet there are so many organisations that need cash to continue their valuable local work.

“Community First thought we should do something about that and has invited some of these funders to explain to local organisations how easy it is to apply for their grants, what can be funded and what makes a good funding application.”

Community First staff will be on hand to help groups to develop new projects or to become stronger, with aspects such as volunteer recruitment, registering as a charity, and health and safety.

“We are particularly pleased to see this event taking place in Bordon,” added Mrs Coxwell. “It is important that community organisations continue to remain strong as the new town of Whitehill and Bordon is regenerated.”

The funding event is part of a series of activities organised by Community First in the Whitehill and Bordon area. It is free to attend but booking is essential.
