NEARLY 2,000 men and women took part in the Judgement Day races on the Longmoor Army Ranges at Oakhanger.

But as well as the usual tackling of obstacles in muddy and watery conditions, they had to contend with freezing temperatures.

But this failed to deter any of the participants, although some took the easier six-kilometre course while hardier entrants tackled the 12-kilometre course.

All competitors had to climb along steel frames, crawl under barbed wire, swing across water, climb over a large truck and master a huge ski-type structure to reach the top.

This is the third time the race has been held on the Longmoor Ranges and each year it attracts more and more people, who endure a supreme test of endurance for a medal if they finish.
