Haslemere author Stephen Frye held the launch of his new charity fundraising book Our Accidental Letters at Oliver’s Cafe.
More than 50 people attended, and more than £550 was raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary at the event – a total which passed £1,000 within a week. Each book sold at Oliver’s was accompanied by a pack of owl pellets for children to dissect at home.
Mr Frye said: “I have been overwhelmed by the support for both the book and the charities, especially from our local community in south-west Surrey.”
Our Accidental Letters is a book of short, nature-related, fictional stories for children and their families to read together. It is available from the Haslemere Bookshop and World of Water in Brook.
