THE VILLAGES of Grayshott and Headley Down will benefit from the extension of the Haslemere Hoppa Shoppa service to and from Haslemere following the introduction of a six-month trial.

The service will operate on weekday mornings and provide a door-to-door service for residents wishing to visit friends, relatives, businesses and shops in Haslemere and vice versa.

Grayshott Parish Council chairman Richard Lyon said: “Following consultation with residents of Grayshott and Headley Down, we identified a demand for a community transport service to and from Haslemere.

“This initiative is a great example of collaborative working with the parish councils of Grayshott and Headley, our Hampshire county councillor and this Waverley-based Hoppa service.

“This door-to-door community transport is a service for all residents.

“It is hoped it will encourage less reliance on the car and provide opportunities for our residents who may feel a little lonely or isolated to have the opportunity to have trips out and meet with others on the community transport service.”

The pilot was made possible through a county councillor grant from Cllr Debbie Curnow-Ford.
