HASLEMERE Rotary organised a successful first charities fayre at Haslemere Hall.

Both Waverley mayor John Robini and Haslemere mayor Simon Dear praised the Rotary’s community activities, as well as the stallholders and the Haslemere Air Cadets for their support.

In the hall was a display of recycled pallet furniture produced for Haslemere Rotary by the Mount Prison workshop, including a child-sized car.

There were also recycled Hessian sacks fashioned into aprons, tote bags and cushion covers, some with hand painted designs by a local woman, and, appropriately, a pallet chair and table hand painted with poppies.

Organiser Yvonne Fox said: "I would like to thank Dianne Bennett for her commitment and help in putting the event together, local businesses, the cake makers, the ’A Team’ in the coffee shop, the Air Cadets and all the charities and craft table holders for supporting it in such a positive way and I hope to see them next year."

Visitors spent more than £4,000. Rotary president Paul Mills closed the fayre and thanked Mrs Fox.
