PARENTS and carers of children and young people with disabilities are being urged to have their say in Hampshire County Council’s consultation on proposals for changes to the short break activities programme.

There are just over four weeks left until the end of the consultation on the proposals, which aim to maintain good quality breaks for parents and carers of disabled children, within a reduced budget, while providing fun and educational opportunities for the children and young people receiving them.

The consultation on proposed changes to the county council’s short breaks programme for children with disabilities opened on March 12 and closes at midnight on June 3.

Feedback gathered from the online consultation will help to inform decisions to be made later in the year on the provision and delivery of the programme from April 2019.

Before completing the online form, the county council recommends that people take time to read the accompanying information. This sets out the current programme, together with background information, the proposed changes and their potential impact, as well as other options for taking part in the consultation.

The findings from the consultation will be published in a report and will be considered, alongside other factors, when decisions are being made about what will be available through the short break activities programme, and how it will be accessed from next April.

A number of drop-in events have been, and are, taking place around the county, giving people the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on the proposals.
