ALTON’S Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre played host to a ‘Mums Meet’ and cake sale to celebrate National Breastfeeding Week 2018.
The event was arranged by the Alton Health Visiting Team and volunteers from the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) and ABM (Association of Breastfeeding Mothers).
There was a good turn out of expectant mums and mums with babies of various ages.
Free information and support was provided by the health visitor and volunteers and there was plenty of cake to enjoy!
The cake sale raised money for the local NCT branch which is hoping to run a breastfeeding peer supporter course later this year. The course would train a group of mums who could then offer free breastfeeding support to local families at a specialist infant feeding group.
A similar event is in the planning, this time a picnic and more cake for sale, to celebrate International Breastfeeding Week at the start of August.
