THE Whitehill and Bordon Community Association is hosting a health and well-being event at the town’s Forest Community Centre.
“The event, on Sunday, October 9, from 1pm to 4pm, is just one part of a wide programme of activities promoting healthy lifestyles,” said Michael Rutland, who works at the centre.
The health and well-being afternoon is being organised in partnership with the charity Community First and housing provider Radian.
Before the event, at 11.30am, the Whitehill and Bordon Walking for Health group will lead a walk, starting and finishing at the centre, which people can join. Also on offer will be homemade soup provided free by Radian’s RKdia Catering.
Places can be booked for the Community Association’s healthy eating cooking-on-a-budget sessions on Thursdays October 27, November 10, and November 24.
Visitors over 40 will be able to have a free health check and can explore therapies such as mindfulness, meditation and hand massage.
The Whitehill and Bordon Community Association will also be promoting the healthy living activities that it hosts at the Forest Community Centre, including chair exercises, a tea dance, Alcoholics Anonymous, strong-and-steady exercise classes, and slimming clubs.
“With Whitehill and Bordon recently being awarded Healthy Town status, the Community Association is keen to help residents adopt healthier lifestyles,” Lawrence Tristram, chairman of the charity, said. “This event is ideal for people wanting to find out about local activities to improve well-being. I think you will be surprised at what is on offer in the town.”
