“THE best fair we have held” was the verdict of Sarah Cane, chairman of the Friends of The Holme Primary School whose summer fun raised £2,300.
With a forecast of rain things had not looked so bright earlier in the day and a heavy shower fell just before the fair started but then, said Mrs Cane: “It stayed dry until just after we closed, and we had large crowd of visitors.”
There were plenty of attractions, with a go-karting track on one of the playgrounds and Hollycombe (museum) steam rides on another. There were competitions and games, including ball-in-the-bucket, face painting and a bouncy castle for the youngsters.
As always at the Headley school’s fair, the tombola and bottle stalls had the longest queues and the raffle, with a top prize of a photoshoot with a firm called Lovelight, also proved a big fundraiser.
The fair was sponsored by Homes of Hindhead, which provided the advertising boards and £300 to the school for every £30 the fair raised. Mrs Cane was also grateful to the businesses which gave prizes and all those who attended.
“We have raised the highest amount of money yet and this was the best fair we have held. The £2,300 will top up the fund that supplies facilities needed for the school.”
