EAST Hampshire district councillor Adam Carew this week condemned the Tory-ruled authority's housing plan as "a monumental mess".

"The whole thing is an embarrassing mess of the first order and resignations should follow," declared Mr Carew, the Liberal Democrat opposition leader.

Mr Carew's calls follow reports that Ken Moon's leadership is being challenged by at least two councillors.

And his scathing remarks come in light of East Hampshire District Council being forced to review its local plan at an extra cost to council tax payers of £120,000.
