HUNDREDS of families turned out for the Whitehill and Bordon Town Partnership’s Summer Activity Day on Saturday.

Held at the Forest Community Centre, with St Mark’s Church also open to the public, there were a wide range of activities for visitors to experience.

The aim of the annual event is to give families a free day out during the summer holidays, while introducing them to some of the community organisations that regularly run activities in the town.

Whitehill and Bordon Town Partnership - supported by grants from East Hampshire District Council, Hampshire County Council and Radian - had also bought in some special attractions - an inflatable bungee run and bouncy slide, a climbing wall, balloon-modelling artist, a puppet show and Miller’s Ark Animals mobile farm.

Stephen Foster, Akela (leader) from 1st Headley Scouts, said: “It’s been a fantastic day with a wide variety of activities for youngsters to enjoy. We have signed up six new members for our group.”

Volunteer organiser Claire Coxwell said the event was a success with a date already pencilled in for 2016. “I’d like to thank all the helpers, stallholders, funders and organisers who have put so much time into organising this event,” she added. “It will be happening again next year on Saturday August 13 - put the date in your diaries.”
