An electrical fire caused by a fault on a pole-mounted box has been blamed for a late night power cut in Whitehill.

More than 1,000 people around Whitehill & Bordon were left in the dark on Thursday night (May 29) following the 11pm incident at the site off Warren Close.

“The majority of the affected customers had their power restored by midnight,” said a spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

“Some 200 remaining customers were reconnected by engineers working through the night to reroute supplies, with three customers restored by connection to generators.”

A fire crew from Liphook was also called but they found the electrical fire out on arrival with SSEN at the scene and no action needed.
