POLICE in Whitehill are reminding residents to ensure their homes are kept secure, and to report any suspicious incidents, following an attempted burglary in the area.

Shortly after noon last Thursday, a man was seen in the back garden of a house in Sutton Field, trying to get into the house via the back door.

The owner, a 25-year-old woman, returned home and disturbed him and he then ran off across the gardens.

Pc Adrian Collisson said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area on May 16 and who may have seen a man acting suspiciously.

"I would also like to remind people to ensure that their homes are kept secure - windows are doors locked - and that valuables are not left on display."
