WINCHESTER Science Centre and Planetarium is bringing the magic behind inventors and inventions to life this month with an inventors-inspired quiz trail in partnership with History Heroes and its award winning new game, Inventors.
Ben Ward, director at the attraction, said: “Our inventors-inspired quiz trail will take you on a journey through the major inventions in history and explain how many of science’s greatest breakthroughs were made.
"For example, have you ever wanted to know who proved lightning and electricity are the same thing? Or who invented a hydraulic screw mechanism more than 1,000 years ago, which is still in use today to raise water from lower to higher levels?”
As they follow the Inventors trail, visitors will be able to complete a quiz to enter a competition, with winners selected every Monday to win one of History Heroes’ Inventors card games. The game comprises 40 illustrated cards, each with fun and fascinating facts about an inventor who has made an impact on our lives. And it is suitable for players aged eight to 80.
Mr Ward continued: “Our aim is to ensure younger visitors have fun and learn along the way. We hope all members of the families visiting the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium this October will discover a whole world of science they never knew.”
Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium is southern England’s leading hands-on, interactive, science and technology centre with the largest standalone planetarium in the UK. The science centre is a self-funded, independent educational charity and relies on gift aid and visitor donations to stay open seven days per week.
