HAMPSHIRE woman Nicole 'Jodi' Hill will be part of the GB Paralympic team – just two years after having her leg amputated.

Jodi, 31, will compete at women's sitting volleyball – the first time Great Britain will have men's and women's teams in the event.

For Jodi, who owns Rumours Cafe Bar in Medstead, competing at the Paralympic Games in London is an amazing feat. She was 21 when she fell off a balcony at a friend's home in Bordon.

At the time she was deputy manager at Alton Sports Centre, but the fall shattered her ankle, leaving her unable to walk and in a lot of pain.

It was five years before she was able to walk again, but she still needed crutches and a walking stick.

Jodi, who lives in Alton, went back to work for nearby Hart Council as deputy manager of a leisure centre but her leg was not healing and, in 2010, she had it amputated.
