Picnic-perfect weather greeted the huge crowd that amassed for Liphook’s Platinum Jubilee Picnic on the Millennium Green on the bank holiday Thursday.
Hundreds of families, friends and neighbours came together for the big community celebration, bringing picnics, beverages, deckchairs and blankets to mark Her Majesty’s historic 70 years on the throne.
The theme was ‘Seven Decades’ and many entered the fancy dress competition, with prizes awarded in the following categories:
- dress in your favourite decade
- as an individual dress in your favourite decade
- as a family or group best picnic set-up
- best homemade Jubilee picnic blanket made from recycled material (no specific size required).
The picnic will be followed by a Jubilee Family Fun event this Sunday, 3pm to 6pm, at Bramshott and Liphook Church. Priced at £10 for the whole family or £5 a head, there will be competitions, a skittle alley, traditional ‘sports day’, cream teas, and fun for all the family. Book online at www.liphookchurch.co.uk or turn up and pay on the day.
- Many of these photos and more will feature in a 15-page Queen’s Jubilee special feature in next Thursday’s Post and Herald – if you have any photos to share of your Jubilee celebrations, please email us at [email protected] or [email protected]
