Around 1,500 people flocked to Mill Chase Recreation Ground for the concert last Friday. Town mayor Cllr Leeroy Scott opened the afternoon session and town crier Stuart Morrison rang in the evening bands.
A highlight was former town mayor Cllr Bisi Kennard singing the national anthem with children from Woodlea Primary School in Whitehill.
Whitehill & Bordon Town Partnership chairman Curtis Bone said: “The event attracted approximately 1,500 people and generated more than £10,000 for local businesses. This was through us hiring equipment but also turnover on the day, with the bar being drunk dry.
“I would like to thank the funders – primarily Whitehill Town Council, but also Cllr Andy Tree through a county councillor grant and the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company as a sponsor – Altis for the loan of generators, Woolmer Forest Lions for their support on the day, Weyford Nursery and Primary School for use of their site for parking, and Woodlea School Choir.”
Town council leader Cllr Tree said: “My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the Jubilee music festival. We were very happy to fund and support this event and thank Curtis and all the volunteers, especially Cllr Catherine Clark, for their huge effort that paid off by providing such a wonderful event for our community.”
