HEADLEY Scouts have acquired a new artwork inspired by a classic tale.

The piece is a mural depicting a scene from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and the Scouts have been busy adding colour to the sketch done by a visiting artist.

One of the Scout’s parents organised for the artist to visit with a company called Three.

Three carried out a day’s refurbishment of the Scout Centre, in Beech Hill Road.

While the work was going on the artist, who came with the Three group, sketched out the mural, which is several feet long.

The Jungle Book theme was chosen because much of Scouting shares the kind of tracking and exploring that the book’s main character Mowgli does.

Megan and Lisa Skirrow, Imogen Crowley and Beaver leader Julie Foster are pictured (BD27-552-16).
