As part of Community First’s Employee Volunteering Scheme, Laleham Health and Beauty take part in a rolling programme of volunteering, supporting a range of community initiatives across East Hampshire.
Don Johnson, operations director, at the company said: “This month’s challenge was helping an elderly couple who have health problems to make their garden accessible as it had become overgrown.
“At this time of year it is especially important to help those less fortunate than yourself. We have hopefully brought a little festive cheer to the couple enabling them to enjoy their garden again.”
The couple are tenants of Radian and have lived at the Whitehill property for a number of years. Amanda Henderson from, Radian, added: “On behalf of EST Radian we would like to say a huge thank you to the fantastic team of volunteers from Laleham Health and Beauty, who have taken time out today to help one of our residents clear their extremely overgrown garden.
“The residents are an elderly couple who used to be proud of their well kept garden and regularly sat out in it during the summer months.
“Sadly, in recent years they haven’t been able to maintain it and it has become very overgrown and inaccessible. Following the hard work of the volunteers, it is well on its way to being the lovely garden it once was.
“The couple will be able to access the space safely and enjoy spending time in the garden once more.
“Being able to accept support from community volunteers is vital to our residents as often they are unable to afford the high costs involved in this type of clearance.”
