COUNTRYSIDE rangers shared their knowledge of the area’s woodland with members of the Headley Society.
For the August meeting of the Headley Society, members visited the National Trust’s Coopers Field work base in Bramshott.
Rangers Chris Webb and Jim Avenel updated attendees about the work they do and the plans for Ludshott Common. Members then enjoyed a picnic.
Ludshott Common is the key part of a 735-acre block of land lying close to Headley Down and Grayshott.
More than 40 bird species have been recorded across Ludshott, but the heathland is especially important for the rare Dartford warbler, woodlark and nightjar.
Maintaining these protected habitats takes a lot of work.
