THE Heatherlands Estate in Headley is to, at last, get a £40,000 level playing field, now work has started on the estate's football pitch where thousands of tonnes of topsoil have been deposited to create a new smooth surface.
The current recreation ground covers an old landfill site, which is sloping, and subsidence has left the pitch uneven and unsafe.
