This year Liphook Carnival celebrates its 120th birthday in grand fashion after fears it might not
happen.

Organiser Sally Cameron said: “But thanks to sponsors’ generosity and new volunteers, it’s going to be bigger and better.”

And helping the carnival on Saturday go with a bang is a £2,500-plus donation from Old Thorns for fireworks starting at 9pm in Radford Park.

Sally added: “It was fantastically generous. The fireworks will round off a great carnival.”

The entertainment starts at 5pm in The Square, and at 6.15pm Carnival Queen Annalise Vaughan and attendants Kadence Vaughan, Jessica Wilson and Zack Wilson will be crowned by retired Colour Sergeant Brian Wood from Bordon, who was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in Iraq.

At 7pm the floats will tour Liphook, and Sally said: “For the first time there will be commentary boxes in The Square and Station Road, and there will be stalls, food vendors and lots of fun.”
