Residents and community leaders gathered at the Whitehill Town Council Annual Town Assembly on Thursday, March 19 to celebrate the achievements of local people making a difference across Whitehill & Bordon.

Town Mayor Cllr Catherine Clarke presented the 2026 Community Awards, recognising individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions.

The well-attended event highlighted the strength of community spirit and the range of local initiatives.

In the Outstanding Young Person (4-11) category, four-year-old Oliver Seignot-Griffiths was honoured after completing a five-mile charity ride for Quest Riding for the Disabled, raising more than £1,000. Judges praised his determination and inspiring effort at such a young age.

The Outstanding Young Person (12-18) award went to Jack Bone, also known as DJ Tinpanboy. His growing confidence and resilience through performing, alongside his positive attitude, were highlighted as making him a strong role model.

Bordon Soap Box received the Organisation Achievement Award for delivering a popular community event that brings residents together while raising money for charitable causes. Bordon Belles WI were named runners-up, recognised for their fundraising work and support for young people with additional needs.

The Local Community Interest Company award went to Y Plus for its inclusive sessions at Woodlands Hall and Oakmoor School, creating safe and supportive environments for young people.

In the Outstanding Adult category, Harry Driver was recognised for founding The Man Cave, a group supporting men’s mental health by providing a space to talk openly. Jenny from Bordon Library was awarded second place for her work supporting families through a parent and baby group.

A Special Recognition Award was presented to Dr Bill Wain, Dr Chris Wain and Colin Brash for their long-standing contribution to preserving the town’s history.

Council leader Cllr Andy Tree said the awards celebrate “all the worthy winners” and those nominated.
