ORGANISERS of the Alresford Watercress Festival on Sunday, May 15, are revealing more about what to expect at the all-day event.

Celebrity chefs such as TV’s Lesley Waters and MasterChef’s Shelina Permaloo will be getting creative with watercress on Broad Street, alongside popular local chefs, and with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee three weeks later, expect recipes that could grace the table of any royal and plenty of street-party dishes.

And all the usual favourite elements will be there, including the procession of the new watercress king and queen dispensing freshly-harvested watercress to the crowd.

More than 140 stalls groaning with local food and crafts, music, kids’ entertainment, and the pièce de résistance – the World Watercress Eating Championships.

There is also a competition to create a dish fit for the Queen. Anyone can enter with the lucky winner walking away with a £200 hamper.
