WHEN Maureen Comber settled near Frith End after being airlifted out of Bangladesh in 1971 during its War of Independence, a life of total peace and quiet in a heavenly, strife-free rural idyll was not what unfolded.
Instead, Maureen has found herself battling against fencing on Broxhead
Common which, she says, blocks horse riders from using bridleways and people from exercising their commoners’ rights.
She told Sheila Checkley why her 40-year fight is far from over.
