WHITEHILL mayor Adam Carew has come across an exciting find - possibly the oldest picture of Bordon, which one day may find its way into the town's new mus-eum, which he is raising funds for.
The town, district and county councillor said that he had received from the United States a rare wood-engraved newspaper print, depicting the proposed site of the first Army camp in Woolmer Forest in Whitehill parish.
The engraving, whose creator has the surname Palmer, is dated 1859 and the image appeared in the London Illustrated News and London Gazette.
It shows two military surveyors pointing to where the proposed Army camp will go.
