Members of sports clubs are invited to the Whitehill and Bordon Opportunity leisure sub-group meeting, at Bordon's Mill Chase school at 6.45pm, to discuss sports and leisure provision in the area, and will be able to network with other club members from the area.
There will be an opportunity to look at current sports and leisure provision, any issues and ways forward.
County councillor for the town Adam Carew, who will chair the meeting, said: "I am writing to all sports clubs and societies to invite them to this Christmas networking event. This positive event is designed to bring sportsmen and women together to form a basis of a sports network.
"Although we have some good sports facilities, White-hil and Bordon is woefully under resourced in terms of playing fields and sports facilities for our size of population, even before our community doubles in size.
"We have good sports provision in our schools; excellent football teams; netball; golf courses; archery; pet-anque and diving clubs, but no cricket, rugby, athletics, hockey or bowls clubs. There is also a need for more tennis, badminton and squ-ash courts. The proposed new Green Town is our chance to change all that - we will need a state-of-the-art new multi-sports centre and far more courts and playing fields. Vastly impr-oved sports provision is essential to keep people healthy, foster teamwork and improve our quality of life. We have a young population in the town and sport is an excellent way for people to channel their energies. Our findings will inform the master-planning process."
East Hampshire District Council deputy leader David Parkinson said: "This is the best opportunity we have ever had to get the town centre, services and leisure facilities that we need."
