A SPELL of strong winds is expected to move east across the south of the UK including Surrey and Hampshire on Sunday.

Gusts of 50 mph are likely quite widely, with 60 mph gusts in places and up to 70 mph at times in the most exposed coastal locations.

The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow’ weather warning for wind across the region, valid between 4am and 11.55pm on Sunday.

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible, as well as some delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.

Snow showers are also expected in the midlands over the weekend, but are not expected to reach Surrey and Hampshire.
