TWO missing dogs have been seen in Bordon, Rogate, Petersfield, Rake and Headley Down, but so far no one has been able to catch Paddy the foxhound or Nelson the spaniel, missing for nearly two months after running off from a stable yard in Bramshott.

There has been an extensive poster campaign offering a “huge reward” but Mattie Oliver, her husband Kirk and their children Naomi, five, and Bruce, three, are desperately sear-ching for the missing dogs.

Mrs Oliver even camped out overnight on Tuesday, September 8, in Whitehill’s Hogmoor Inclosure after Paddy was seen there, but she found no trace of him.

She has since returned to the Inclosure and the town’s Deadwater Valley to search.

The family have hired a dog tracker with a beagle, good at picking up a scent, but it failed to find either of the missing dogs.

Mrs Oliver said: “It was on July 22. I was in a field next to stables in Bramshott, where I have my horses, with my children.

“As they are young horses I had Paddy, who is three, with me but left Nelson, my 18-month-old cocker span-iel, in my car as they had already had a walk and it would mean I could watch the children rather than both dogs as I do need to keep my eye on Nelson.

“After finishing my work with the horses and while walking back to my car I called Paddy to follow but he wasn’t coming. Then I got back to my car and Nelson wasn’t there. I think he got out of the sunroof, went over to Paddy and they both ran off.”

Since then she and her husband have put up more than 1,000 posters sent hundreds of emails, and laid scent trails by leaving bedding and clothing at places the dogs have been seen.

“I have searched nearly every day and night.

“There have been quite a few sightings - Paddy near Chalet Hill, Bordon, and at the Hogmoor Inclosure, and even Petersfield Golf Club. There have also been sightings at Rake and Rogate.

“Nelson was seen near our house at Headley Down and has followed people and gone into a couple of gardens but by the time I get the phone call to say where they are, they have gone.”

The owner has searched the Whitehill, Oakhanger and Blackmoor areas and has alerted East Hampshire dog wardens, vets and the wardens at the Deadwater Valley Trust and all are helping. She added: “Both the dogs are chipped and neutered with collars on.”
