The wheels are turning on plans to build a drive-thru next to the Winchester Road service station in Petersfield.

But proposals for a possible KFC, bakery and coffee shop at Buckmore Farm aren’t to everyone’s tastes, with Hampshire Highways among the objectors.

Access to the proposed drive-thru would come from the McDonalds mini-roundabout and from the Buckmore Farm access road to the other units.

The application states the drive-thru would be for a coffee business but KFC are keen to open a branch in Petersfield while Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Horton’s have opened similar units.

But while proposals for an adjoining business park were recently approved, the food and retail proposals have been harder to swallow with concerns about water run-off, traffic build-up and landscaping being raised by town councillors and The Petersfield Society.

Hampshire Highways have also lodged a “holding objection” fearing the proposed layout could lead to “danger and inconvenience” for highway users.
