OAKHANGER Angling Club is facing an uncertain future due to an ongoing dispute with the Ministry of Defence which has has now reached a crisis point.
The debate is centred around fishing platforms at the club's base at Kingsley Pond which the Ministry of Defence (MoD), as owner of the land, claims might not be safe.
However, after the club agreed to remove eight damaged wooden platforms, known as "swims", from around the pond, it was told that all 24 platforms, including ones which it says are intact, must be removed after it was unable to employ an engineer to survey the pond.
Fishery manager Fred Bell explained this week that the ongoing disagreement had reached fever pitch with the MoD issuing the club a notice of termination of its licence.
