THERE was a glimmer of hope this week that the eco-town project might still go ahead, as the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it still planned to quit the Bordon Garrison to free up acres of land for development.
The news came in a letter from David Olney, the deputy chief executive of Defence Estates, to East Hampshire District Council.
It stated that the MoD had a "commitment to making the site available for redevelopment" and that it aimed to reconfirm the land release early in 2011.
