AFTER claiming he had paid back the £9,000-plus overspend of his expenses, which he described as an "error of judgment", North East Hampshire MP James Arbuthnot is at the centre of another row - after claiming £2,750 in expenses for tree surgery at his £2m Berkshire mansion.
This was despite the work being carried out during the previous financial year and Commons rules state that expenses must be claimed during the year in which they were incurred. The MP has argued he was entitled to the payment because he had paid the bill for the work during the subsequent year.
