A NEIGHBOUR was injured when a burglar, who was escaping from the house next door, barged into him before driving off in a car with no lights.

On Sunday, September 28, at 9.30pm, a 40-year-old man was returning to his house in Greatham and discovered the glass in his door had been smashed and then saw an intruder running down the stairs.

He tried to stop the intruder, but the burglar barged into a neighbour as he fled from the house, causing the neighbour to fall and cut his head on the broken glass.

The burglar, who drove off in a car with no lights, is described as white, in his early to mid 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build and wearing a dark hooded top, dark trousers and a dark covering over his nose and mouth.

Det Con Steve Brown, from Winchester Police Station, said: "This was an alarming incident for those involved and I would appeal to the public to contact us with any information that may help us to find the man responsible."
