MORE than 20 apple trees have been planted in a new orchard in Bordon.

The 21 trees were planted at Honey Pin Orchard on Tuesday and Wednesday (November 26 and 27), and were locally sourced from Southern trees at Blackmoor.

And, to coincide with National Tree Week from November 23 to December 1, Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust (WBCT) installed an apple core sculpture, built by Richard Evershed at Hampshire Wood Projects.

Schools and groups are now being invited by WBCT to visit Honey Pin Orchard, off Savile Crescent, and adopt a tree.

In spring 2020, the trust will then work with the Future Skills Centre to build a fruit planter and bench. Whitehill & Bordon’s Disability Action Group have also been invited to help design a bench suitable for all.
