East Hampshire District Council has completed a major upgrade to Hollybrook Recreation Ground in Whitehill & Bordon.

It brings a wide range of new sports and play equipment to the community - and it is all thanks to funding from local developments.

The newly-finished play area features equipment suitable for children of all ages, including brand-new football goals and an outdoor gym, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

The £174k project was funded through developer contributions specifically allocated for enhancing open spaces and sports facilities in the area. These contributions are part of the planning process, where developers support local infrastructure improvements.

Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC deputy leader and portfolio holder for the Whitehill & Bordon area, who approved the funding for the project, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Hollybrook play area now fully completed and already being enjoyed by local families.

“Having had residents post on social media and approach me and ask if the council could invest in their playpark, I am incredibly happy to have been able to approve the funding and see the work competed. Thank you to all council officers and others involved. I hope our young people enjoy it!”

The project was shaped by community input, with residents taking the opportunity to share their views during a public consultation. The result is a vibrant, inclusive space that reflects the needs and wishes of the local community.
