AS the tide of political power shifts towards localism, Selborne Parish Council has taken the initiative to address its own traffic nightmare.

Like many villages, Blackmoor, Oakhanger and Selborne are under increasing threat from growing volumes of traffic.

Proposed development in Bordon, and potential housing expansion in Alton and Liss, are expected to generate increased traffic flows through the villages and lanes of the parish and, unconvinced that Hamp-shire County Council's highways department will be able to mitigate the impact, councillors have decided to "go it alone".
