AS Bordon’s Future Skills Centre begins welcoming its first students this term, the Herald takes a look inside the flagship facility.
The new college will teach post-16 students everything they need to know to embark on a career in the construction industry.
With the £4m centre now finished, students will begin courses in general construction, brickwork, carpentry and more, alongside apprenticeships and part-time construction-related programmes.
Courses will range from level one up to Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas.
The centre was proposed as an integral part of Bordon’s regeneration. In short, the idea is that by training people in these fields, the town will literally build itself. A total 3,350 new homes and nearly 100,000sqm of new commercial, retail and leisure floorspace are set to be delivered in the town over the next 20 or so years.
East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds will declare the centre officially open at a launch event on Friday, October 13.
