A PETERSFIELD school has a solar panel for every day of the year after splashing out on a green investment.

Churcher’s College has installed 365 panels on the roof of its swimming pool as part of a five-year plan to reduce its environmental impact.

The investment brings the total number up to 404 as the 48 were previously installed on the roof of the Goodfield Centre building in 2021.

Ten representatives from the school’s “Great Team” were joined on the roof by headmaster Simon Williams for the big switch-on.

There’s more panels to come while the installation of eco-friendly heat pumps should further boost the school’s green credentials.

Mr Williams said: “From this new installation alone, in less than two weeks of a cloudy month we have already benefited from over 1.5 MWh of electricity being generated for the school.

“We estimate the annual output to be 130MWh each year, providing 11 per cent of the school’s electricity needs, avoiding 30 tonnes of CO2 emissions, and saving £36,500 each year.

“On every level, it is a fantastic green initiative which we plan to expand further in the future.”
