Petersfield shoppers have given a helping hand to poverty-stricken children in Colombia through a milestone event.

One of the town’s longest-running traditions was upheld last Saturday when In Ministry to Children (IMC) held their 30th annual Funday charity stall in Rams Walk.

The charity was launched by Joan and Terry Thraves after the pair saw first-hand the plight of seeing children in the Colombian capital of Bogota.

Proceeds from the funday have gone towards food programmes, education and farming opportunities for seriously-abused youngsters in the South American nation.

This year’s event was scaled down because of the weather but its plant sale, tombola and donations still raised nearly £700, with shoppers and visitors being thanked for their support.
