Taylor Wimpey is hoping to build 220 houses at New Barn Farm off Alton Lane in Four Marks.

It has made an environmental impact assessment screening opinion application to East Hampshire District Council.

This request, made under regulation 6 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017, is to determine whether an environmental impact assessment is required before the developer submits a planning application.

A spokesperson for Fight4FourMarks said: “This speculative move for yet more development outside of our settlement boundary comes on top of the 100 already given outline permission and the 45 opposite Garthowen that are under consideration for the same, making a total of 365. Knowing the village, it is not making any kind of sense to us here. Comments welcome.”

The application can be viewed via the East Hampshire District Council planning portal under reference EHDC-26-0534-EIA. The public consultation closes on June 7.
