Blackmoor Village Hall on Church Lane has submitted a planning application to upgrade its electricity system, including the installation of solar panels.

The grade II-listed building is believed to be designed by Alfred Waterhouse, the architect behind Manchester Town Hall and London’s Natural History Museum.

The new plans include four solar panels on the hall roof and panels on two detached store sheds at the rear. Collection equipment, inverters and batteries would be housed in the existing storeroom within the modern extension at the back.

The upgrade aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs and support sustainability. Residents and heritage officers will have the opportunity to comment before a final decision is made.
