Glasses will be raised in Liss next weekend as a brass band will perform at a beer festival on the back of a national triumph.

The Liss Band are the toast of East Hampshire as they came ahead of 22 similar acts to win the UK Bandamonium competition in Devon.

So expect plenty of cheers next Saturday as the victors will be performing at the Triangle Centre as part of the annual Liss Beer & Music Festival.

And there’s more as the festival is just one half of a weekend of events with a pint, Ploughman’s and jazz being served up the next day.

The beer and music festival will begin at 2pm next Saturday (August 30) with ten delicious ales on tap.

Local favourites from Cheriton, Triple FFF, Bowman and Langham breweries will be available along with the ever-popular Timothy Taylor’s Landlord.

Blackmoor Orchards and Hogmoor Distillery will cater for cider and gin fans, respectively, while excellent Butcher & Larder of Station Road will serve up BBQ goodness.

The Liss Band will begin their homecoming gig at 2.30pm with performances by the Kings Pond Shanty Men, East of Meon and the Carbon Copy Party Band following.

Entry is £7 to include a commemorative glass while tickets are available on the door or can be purchased in advance through www.liss-triangle-centre.org.uk.

If you get a taste for the ales on offer on Saturday then best return the next day as the centre is offering a Pint and a Ploughman’s Lunch for £5 from midday.

A choice of local ales will be available with food and drink being accompanied by live jazz music. Organisers would like to thank the likes of Chapplins, U-Do DIY, Turtle Bean café, Sarah Redfern, DPM Leadwork, Milkwood Care, Syn-star and Talma leisure for their sponsorship.
